12th Fenix Congress

The 12th Fenix Congress in 2025, titled Re-imagining Spanish Women’s Economic Migration (20th and 21st centuries) in today’s cultural Landscape, delves into contemporary cultural representations of Spanish women’s responses to the economic challenges in Spain from the early 20th century to the present day. In this monograph, we highlight Spanish women who migrate for economic reasons. In this 12th Fenix Congress, the aim is to address the following questions: What defines, according to the examined cultural production by women, the responsibility of Spanish women who migrate for economic reasons?  How is that responsibility creatively shaped? How do dignity, responsibility, and memory engage in dialogue in this context? What is the contemporary significance of these recovered memories?
